Spurs FC Comp Program Coaches

Spurs competitive team coaches are all licensed and include some of the most highly-regarded youth soccer coaches in the Bay Area. Most are active players, so there are ample opportunities for Spurs youth players to see their coaches model what they teach.

 
 

The coaching team is a large, stable, and tightly-knit group of dedicated professionals. They work closely with volunteer coaches to ensure quality and consistency across all Spurs FC teams.

Coach Scott Allen

Hometown: Livermore, CA

Teams: Director of Coaching, 03B Navy

I've played all my life, from youth soccer in Livermore to high school and college in Southern California and at a University in Xian PR China. The first coaching job was as an 18 year old coaching Newport Harbors JV boys team while in college. Later while living in San Diego I coached at Crawford High School, three incredible years with a great group of players. Since living in the Bay Area, I’ve coached both varsity boys and girls teams at Head Royce, a boys team with Mersey, and now Spurs FC for the past five years, currently Director of Coaching.

Coach Omar BAutista

Hometown: Richmond, CA

Teams: 07B Blue, 04B Blue, 02G White

I started playing soccer at the age of three and joined my first competitive team at the age of seven. I played for a Richmond team and was also part of the Richmond PAL All-Star team. At the age of 14, I moved to Mavericks and played for them for 4 years. I was also on the ODP regional and state team. I played two years for Contra Costa community College before transferring to UNLV. In Las Vegas I played for a semi-pro team, Las Vegas Knights; I was also part of Las Vegas All-Star team and got the opportunity to play against professionals teams from Mexico and the MLS.

I started coaching 10 years ago. I started as a GK coach for the Varsity boys team at Albany High School. Since then, I've coached for three different clubs, Lamorinda United, Bay Oaks, and currently Spurs FC. I have also been the head coach for the Girls Varsity team at Albany High School for 4 years.

Coach WisseM Bouali

Hometown: El Cerrito, CA

Growing up in the Bay Area, I played and trained with various clubs in the area, including FCA Milan, Mavericks, and ABSC. I primarily played as a midfielder during my time as a player.

I’ve worked with Spurs FC the past year as an assistant coach to Coach Simba (06 and 07 Boys), helping both at the practice sessions and games. I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience working with the awesome coaches at Spurs FC as well as taking coaching courses with the NorCal league.

  • I am currently finishing up my Bachelors Degree in Political Economy and International Development

Spurs Love: I love the culture at Spurs FC and the constant desire to grow and develop as players, coaches, and individuals overall.

COach Danny Bravo

Hometown: Richmond, CA

Teams: 07B Navy, 05B Navy, 02 White

Experience: I have been playing soccer since the age 11. I have had the opportunity to play throughout many clubs in the East Bay. I’ve played for teams such Mavericks, Bay Oaks, Newark Argonauts, and lastly Spurs when it was the El Cerrito Football Club. I played competitive soccer for many years and it allowed me to become a collegiate player. I played for two years at Merritt college then transferred to The University of Saint Mary in Kansas, where I finished playing my final two years of college soccer.

I’ve been coaching soccer since I was junior in high school. I started as a helper in many clubs and then began to run clinics and summer camps. That eventually lead me up to becoming an assistant coach and now a head coach at SPURS FC. I’ve coached for FCA, Mavericks, and currently Spurs FC.

Coach Sam Browne

Hometown: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Teams: 04G Blue, 04G White, 07G White

Experience: I have been playing competitive soccer since I was nine years old for Erin Mills Soccer Club and Burlington Youth Soccer Club in Canada. While with the Burlington Xtreme, we won the league and provincial championships, and a silver medal at the national championships. When I was 16, I was a part of the Canadian National Team player development pool. My collegiate career was with York University in Toronto. I captained the team for three years and led the team to two provincial gold medals out of three appearances — and a national silver medal out of three national tournament appearances.

  • I have my National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) levels I & II. I have my Learn to Train from Canada Soccer. I have a BSc Specialized Honors in Psychology, and I'm currently finishing up my Master's Degree in Sport Psychology at John F. Kennedy University.

Spurs Love: I love how everyone involved is so passionate about the game of soccer, learning and developing, coming together as a community, and having a great time together.

Coach Manish Doshi

Hometown: El Cerrito, CA

Teams: Spurs 2006 Girls, Spurs 2002 Boys, El Cerrito High School Mens Varsity, Bentley High School Women's and Men's teams, PDP Region 3/4 Team Coach, ODP Region 4 Team Coach

Experience: I played youth soccer in El Cerrito, Richmond, Berkeley, and Albany - pickup games because we couldn’t afford club soccer at the youth level. Then, I played soccer at Berkeley High School and briefly in College at BYU summer league, along with various adult leagues in the Bay Area.

Coach Kitamba Ko Douglas

Hometown: Richmond, CA

Teams: 07/08B Navy, 09/10B White

Coaching: I grew up local and played in local youth clubs. I played Albany High School varsity from 1993-1996 and then at Contra Costa College for one year, along with the Santiagueno local amateur team premier champions. I coached boys and girls of all ages at multiple clubs locally only to find home here at the Spurs FC.

Coach ERIC GOOCH

Experience: I played competitive soccer for 15 years throughout the midwest. As so many soccer lovers, I was always on consecutive teams and spent my weekends on the field in tournaments. I was trained in the Coerver Soccer System.

Spurs Love: Coaching with the Spurs continues to afford me an opportunity to give back to a sport that offered me friendships and a sense of community throughout my youth. I feel coaching is also an opportunity for me to serve others while giving thanks and praise to God. Coaching provides a connection between the players, club, community, coaches and families and allows everyone to share the joy of the game.

Coach Niall Irwin

Hometown: Waterford, Ireland

Teams: Technical Director and 2005 Boys

Experience: Played soccer since I was 4 years old. Played in an Irish professional team for 4 years with stints at Waterford united and Shamrock Rovers. Studied and played at Griffith college and had the opportunity to be a player coach for a season. Played in Community College at Merritt College for a season as well as with the Spurs Men’s team and most recently with Oakland Roots. Niall has coached players from ages 3-25 years of age.

  • Head Coach of the Varsity programs at Berkeley High, Head Royce for boys and also helped assist at El Cerrito High School Girls program.

Coach Joshua Martinez-Reyes

Experience: I played competitive soccer for San Pablo, Richmond United, Alliance Academy Hayward as well as varsity all four years of high school. I have six years of experience. I started off with Richmond United for three years, moved to San Pablo United for two years, and starting my first year with Spurs last year.

Coach Pablo Perez

Hometown: El Cerrito, CA

Teams: 2010B Blue, 2011B, 2009B Blue

Experience: Pablo has been playing soccer since he was only 4 years old. He's played for clubs all over the Bay Area, such as Richmond United, Mavericks, Bay Oaks, Newark Argonauts, and most recently the Spurs Men's team. He began coaching for Mavericks, later El Cerrito High School, and now coaches a variety of ages with Spurs, although he specializes with 3-8 year-old players. As a player, he's won quite a few titles including the  ECHS 2009-10 Most Dedicated Player, ECHS 2010-2012 Defender of the Year, and is a 3-time CIF 2nd team All-League Player. He believes each player develops at their own pace, and that with work-ethic and self-honesty, any player can pick up the pace and be successful.

Coach Kris Rolstad

Hometown: Kris Rolstad

Teams: 2003 Boys and Pre-competetive program

Experience: I fell in love with soccer as a small child and have played for more than 20 years. Ronaldinho and Steven Gerrard are my heroes. While growing up in Utah, I played for the state ODP team. I also played in New Mexico and at Western Washington University during my time as a student there. I began coaching in Utah and Washington. I have coached for the Spurs for three years and have worked with kids as young as three all the way up to high school seniors and also coached in school and WCCUSD school district.

  • BA in Anthropology and Psychology from Western Washington University

Spurs Love: I love working with a diverse group of experienced coaches and working with a wide variety of ages and developmental levels of player.

Coach Ted Steen

Hometown: Worcester, MA --> Richmond, CA

Teams: 2008B Blue, 2005B White, 2003B Black

Experience: With over 20 years of playing experience, Ted is a former high school and college soccer player at Worcester Academy (Worcester, MA) and Union College (Schenectady, NY). Currently, he participates in adult soccer leagues, both men’s and co-ed, across the Bay Area.

This Spring 2019, Ted will be completing his 7th year of coaching and his first with Spurs FC. He has coached and trained a wide array of players and teams, ranging from youth to the collegiate level. Currently, Ted coaches 3 teams for Spurs FC on the boys’ side- 2008 Gold, 2005 White, and 2003 Black. He is also an Assistant Coach with the Women’s program at Diablo Valley College (Pleasant Hill). Ted owns his own business, Be Elite Soccer Training, where he offers personal and group training sessions to help players develop their technical ability to improve game performance. In addition, he is a Scout with International Fútbol X-Change, an International soccer organization that offers programs to players to become immersed in a foreign culture and play soccer.

Coach Gina Woodward

Hometown: Glendora, CA

Teams: 2010G, 2008G Blue, 2007G Blue

Experience: I started my career playing rec at 4, jumped to competitive U11 at 8 years old and played on Nationally Rank club teams up until college. I was recruited on a scholarship to play at Cal and ended up going pro at the age of 20. I still play semi professionally in the Bay Area all year long. I still can’t get enough of the sport! I began my coaching career as a teenager assistant and was given my first team at 21; I haven’t looked back since!
